Free Flight Room Trials: UK

In London, we partnered with Arctech Innovation to test Mossie-GO in controlled free flight rooms, observing mosquito behaviour and effectiveness in real time. The trials gave us key insights to fine-tune the device for real-world impact.

Mossie-GO Pest Pod Testing: Preliminary Results (2023)

In December 2023, Africa Power and partners conducted independent laboratory testing of the Mossie-GO powered spatial repellent at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine free-flight rooms. The study was designed to measure the device’s protective efficacy against common mosquito species found across Africa, including Anopheles gambiae, Aedes aegypti, and Culex quinquefasciatus.

The Mossie-Go device used transfluthrin, a WHO-recommended active ingredient, to create a protective zone that reduces mosquito landings and bites without the need for smoke, sprays, or nets.

Key Findings

- 92% Protective Efficacy against Anopheles gambiae (malaria vector)
- Visible knockdown effect on mosquitoes exposed to the device
- Spatial protection observed, mosquitoes entering the test area were rapidly incapacitated
- High 24-hour mortality (>90%) in Anopheles species
